A Kayak, Ten Foot High Breakers, and a Buried Treasure
A new season swiftly approaches as the trees are just entering their beginning stages of transformation. I watch as they turn from a lush green appearance into a deep ruby red; soon followed by yellows, oranges, and browns. The ever-growing urge to congregate around a cozy campfire stirs its way into the cool nights. It makes itself known on this particular Saturday evening as a group of us share in the warmth as we listen to a life-changing story that had something to do with a kayak, 10foot high breakers, and a buried treasure. We sip on our Starbucks Vias and enjoy a few good laughs. As I stare almost unconsciously into the mesmerizing bon fire I am reminded that God works in mysterious ways throughout the many changing seasons of our lives. He uses different situations to ultimately make his name known. Something I heard Louie Giglio say Sunday night was that the Lord will use you where you are. He can use you even if the season isn’t great. Daniel 2:21 says, “he changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him”. I leave you with this - This season, whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

And remember… IT’S FALL!!! Time for bon fires, hot chocolate, pumpkin pickin, The annual Ellijay Apple festival, Snuggies, cozy turtlenecks, raking leaf piles to jump in, FLANNEL EVERYTHING!, squash with buttered brown sugar, chili and corn bread smothered in honey, hayrides, corn mazes, the Harvest moon sitting plump and white with his chin on the hill in the mountain pass looking out over the valley… well, you get the picture.
